For those of you who have been waiting for the Zoom Kobe IV MPLS colorway, they’ve recently dropped in stores and this past weekend on nikestore.com as well. The combination of colors are inspired by the Minneapolis Lakers who wore jerseys that had MPLS written across the front when they played many years ago. One of the best parts of this MPLS colorway of the Nike Zoom Kobe IV is the University Blue outsole that is semi-translucent or in other words its almost like an Ice outsole only its tinted with a bit of University Blue. If you are totally sick of Nike hybrid models by now, you may want to look away, but don’t be so quick to dismiss these until you take a closer look. Tennis great, Andre Agassi’s shoe, the Nike Air Tech Challenge was one of Nike’s hottest models back in the late 80’s and early 90’s and was even embraced by those with no appreciation whatsoever for tennis. There were four Air Tech Challenge models released between 1989 and 1992 and now the most recognizable attributes of each have all been combined into one shoe that pays homage to the entire line.
We showed you another colorway of the Air Tech Challenge Hybrid a few months back, but this one seems to do it even more justice in terms of trying to capture the look of all four. You can immediately pick out the Lava graphics from the ATC II, the wavy Volt Yellow section from the ATC III and the wildly colorful heel from the ATC IV, but you’ll have to look closer to find other retro inclusions in this hybrid design. If these summon up instant nostalgia for you the way they do for us, these are available right now on eBay.

The reception has been decidedly warm thus far for the Air Jordan V (5) double-play that is the “Raging Bull” Defining Moments Package II (DMP 2). Here’s another new AJ5 for 2009, but this one is slated for a standalone release. Appearing in a white patent leather upper, these have quite a few contrasts. The midsole is a dark army green (appears bluish in bottom pics) featuring a speckled white sharkstooth plus translucent yellow sole segments. The tongue is a brownish-burgundy colour and the lining features a mix of complimentary hues. The Nike Air Max line has had a long and impressive history of constantly innovating and providing stylish ultra-functional sneakers in the process. The latest offering in the line is the Air Max+ 2009 Running Shoe, a sleek new model with some very nice touches like Flywire technology and a full 360 Air Max sole unit, so you know they will be both lightweight and well-cushioned. The shoe also features a partially transparent upper that reveals the Flywire and a mesh underlayer. Two men’s and two women’s models will make up the initial drop. The fellas will have grey/black/red and silver/volt/black colorways to sink their teeth into, while the ladies versions will come in grey/orange and grey/silver/liquid lime. There’s little chance the timing on the previous leaks was coincidental, but who needs coincidence when your design is this good? For the third time in a week, we’ve received a clearer picture of what the Defining Moments Pack II (DMP2) Air Jordan V ‘Raging Bull’ edition looks like. Red suede with tonal stitching looks dope on the upper, but it’s actually a bit darker in person. Imagine something closer to the red Air Jordan XXI. A new twist we’ve not seen on AJ5s, the red-tipped teeth inspired by WWII-era Mustang fighter planes pay homage to the similarly hewn Chicago Bulls logo. Just like the Oscar-winning movie from which it takes its subtitle, the Air Jordan Defining Moments Package II (DMP 2) finds it’s main character adding weight and packing a mighty wallop. We have already seen the sick red suede Air Jordan V (5) a few times, and now the questions of whether the other pair will be black or grey, 3M-reflective or not can be settled once and for all. For the record, they’re black and equipped with 3M, as well as the same icey outsole and red-tipped sharksteeth found on the red joints. Take a look at detailed pics after the jump depicting the second half (including 3M in effect) of one of the finest packs we’ve seen, maybe ever.
